16th Annual Boxwood Program

On Friday December 2nd,
the Garden Club of Indian River County presented its 16th Boxwood Program at the
Garden Center. Jennifer Sauter of Jasmine Circle (above) instructed 42 members
and many from the public sector who responded to publicity in the Press Journal
Calendar on how to make a Boxwood Tree for Christmas. Jennifer is a Nationally
Accredited Flower Show Master Judge.
This is an annual event that is sponsored by the Garden Club each December at
the beginning of the Christmas Season. All participants come ready to make this
beautiful little tree. Thanks to the Garden Club members on the set up committee
who process the large quantities of Boxwood, the Workshop is a big success every
year.
The trees were decorated with Snowflake Mums, or they added their own Ornaments
and Mini Lights. Jennifer gave instructions about misting the tree and keeping
it well watered. She said that if this were done, the tree would last until well
after Christmas. She also said that the flowers might need to be replaced in
about 2 weeks.
The sense of accomplishment by people who have never done this before is
gratifying and contagious, as we all start the Season in the Holiday spirit.
